In 1970, three-day-old Marra B. Gad was adopted by a white Jewish family in Chicago. For her parents, it was love at first sight—but they quickly realized the world (even that of their fellow Jews) wasn’t as full of love as they were. It’s Marra’s story and the story of how she cared for her racist great aunt through her battle with Alzheimers. The book is an autobiography.
